Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers, was born on August 8, 1989, in Paris. When she moved to Oxfordshire around the age of five, Emma attended The Dragon School. From the age of six Emma realized she would like to be an actor and for many years she studied at the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theatre school where she studied the art of acting and dancing. At the age of ten the actress took part in and performed the main role in several Stagecoach Productions and School Plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000), the movie version to J.K. Rowlings bestselling novel was cast for the first time at the beginning of 1999. Emma was found by casting agents through Emma's Oxford theatre teacher. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone and Ron Weasley told Emma after eight auditions that she had been chosen for these roles. The cast included Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. The film's release Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's debut on the screen in cinema. It was also one of the top-rated films in 2001. Its opening days and weekends of ticket sales were record-breaking. The film was praised by critics and the performance of three young stars. The Daily Telegraph, a well-read British paper, praised her for her performance. Emma won the Young Artist Award as the leading young actress in a Feature Film. She was later awarded five times for her part in the film.
