Maggie Grace and Maggie Gyllenhaal
Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig Sept. 21 in 1983) is a well-known American actress. Most notably, she appeared as Shannon Rutherford from ABC's Lost television show, as well as Kim Mills for the Taken Trilogy. Her birthplace was Worthington in Ohio. She was kicked out of high school after her parents divorced to go to Los Angeles to live with her mother. She landed her debut role as Rachel's Room's lead character in 2001, despite having a difficult time in the financial department. After earning a Young Artist Award in 2002 for her performance as Murder in Greenwich of 15 year old Martha Moxley as a murder victim, Grace was able to take home the award. In 2004, Grace was chosen to play Shannon Rutherford in the television show Lost in which she was a main cast member for the first two seasons. She was also awarded an Screen Actors Guild Award shared with the cast of the ensemble. Grace was forced to quit the show to pursue a professional film work. She had appeared alongside Tom Welling opposite in The Fog earlier in the year 2005. The following year, she was as a character in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club as well as, alongside Liam Neeson's Kim Mills as Kim Mills in Taken. She reprised her role for Taken 2 (2012) and Taken 3 (2014).She played the leading role in Alice on Malice in Wonderland a modern adaptation of Lewis Carroll's book Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace returned to her role as Shannon in Lost, including the finale. Grace was a part of the show's sixth season which ran between 2013 and the year 2014. She portrays Faith who's a star-gazer and the girl in the group. Hank Moody, played by David Duchovny, falls for her. As a member of the Gyllenhaal family, she is the daughter of film makers Stephen Gyllenhaal and Naomi Achs and the older sister of actor Jake Gyllenhaal. In her teens, she began to work in small roles for her father. She also appeared in Donnie Darko with her brother. She appeared next in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind in 2002, and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal won critical praise for her performance as the main character in Secretary (2002), the erotic drama about romance and Sherrybaby (2006). In 2006, she was also nominated by The Golden Globe Award. She appeared in a number of commercially successful movies including World Trade Center. However, it was her role as Rachel Dawes that brought her more attention with The Dark Knight (2008). As the single mother in Crazy Heart (2009) she received a nomination for Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. In the following years, she appeared in dramatics and comedies: Nanny McPhee and The Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011) and Won't Back Down (2012). Other roles are as an agent for Secret Service in White House Down 2013, as a singer for Secret Service in White House Down 2013. She also appeared as a singer in Frank 2014 and as a singer the role of a teacher in The Kindergarten Teacher 2018, in which she plays the lead role. In 2021 Gyllenhaal has made her scriptwriting and directing debut in the psychological thriller The Lost Daughter for which she received an award at the Venice International Film Festival's Best Screenplay Award and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
